Last week, Calvert Hall College High School made history by snapping Dr. Henry A. Wise High School’s record 43 game winning streak. Wise High School, from Upper Marlboro, MD in Prince George’s County, is a perennial 4A contender, winner of the last three 4A championships, and was holding the nation’s second longest active winning streak at the time.
This was a team effort and it was a signature victory for everyone involved. It is certainly one of the most memorable wins in my coaching career up to this point. Much credit goes to Wise for their resolve. There is a reason why they have been 4A state champions for the past three years.
With the victory, Calvert Hall is now ranked #3 in the Baltimore area according to the Baltimore Sun and #6 in the State of Maryland according to MaxPreps.
Below is a press clipping, videos of the game from Varsity Sports Network, and several photos I had taken from the game.
“Wise, a perennial 4A state power from Prince George’s County came in with a state best 43 game streak and the victory earned Davis the honor as the Baltimore Touchdown Club Coach of the Week.
…
“This is a tremendous and unique win,” said Davis, now in his 12th season as the head coach at his alma mater. “Seldom does a team amass 40 plus wins in a row. A ton of credit goes to Wise for that accomplishment. For our kids, the opportunity to play against ‘history’ is an honor and for us to stop a historic streak makes for special memories for our guys and our school community.”
…
Davis, like all successful head coaches relies on talented support staff and assistant coaches. He shares his BTC honor with them and took a moment to reflect on each of them.

Phil Tran – “He is our strength coach. The strength and speed development of our guys allows us to be in this position.””https://miaasports.net/calvert-halls-davis-honored-by-btc-after-historic-win/
