Last Friday night, #7 Calvert Hall played #5 Archbishop Spalding for their Homecoming game and won 21-7. The Friday Night Lights experience at Archbishop Spalding is one of the best in Maryland. Archbishop Spalding is a classy football program with an all-star coaching staff. It was great to engage in fellowship with my coaching colleagues from Archbishop Spalding in their field house before and after the game and check out their facilities.
With the victory, Calvert Hall improves to 7-1 for the season and remains at #7 in a highly competitive football state where the top five teams are nationally ranked in the top one hundred on MaxPreps.
By comparison, Texas, which has five times the population of Maryland, has eighteen teams currently in the top one hundred MaxPreps national rankings. For my Texas connections, especially college football coaches, please establish a recruiting pipeline in Maryland as soon as you can! I am proud to have played high school and college football in the great State of Texas and to be coaching high school football in the great State of Maryland; two states that are unrivaled for their state pride and have a wealth of football talent.
