Fellowship of Christian Athletes was well represented at the 8th Annual Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation College Tip-Off on Tuesday at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Harbor East. I attended the event with FCA Maryland State Director Shaun Smithson and Calvert Hall College High School Head Basketball Coach Jason Hasson. Many thanks go to FCA National Board of Trustees Member and Calvert Hall FCA Huddle Leader Frank Kelly III for the invitation.
I also had the opportunity to meet one of my childhood idols, Cal Ripken Jr.
This event is a fundraiser to finance the mission of the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation. The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation helps build character and teach critical life lessons to at-risk youth residing in America’s most distressed communities. Their signature program, Badges for Baseball, trains police officers as coaches and places them on teams to help improve relationships between at-risk youth and law enforcement. The Foundation maintains fourteen STEM Centers to teach science, technology, engineering, and math to at-risk youth. The Foundation’s girls leadership program mentors and raises future women leaders.
