Ladies and Gentlemen:
Thank you so much for attending the 2019 NSCA Maryland State Clinic sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and TeamBuildr. It was awesome to see so many strength and conditioning professionals from so many states along the East Coast come together for a fruitful day of learning and networking.
We officially broke the record for most ever registrants (114) and attendees (111) for an NSCA Maryland State Clinic! Second place was 94 registrants so we won big on both counts and it is not even a recertification year!
Many thanks go to our heavyweight lineup of speakers who represent the diverse array of professions in the sports and fitness industry; strength coaches, sport coaches, personal trainers, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and sports doctors. Nick Tumminello, Eamon O’Liddy, Kelley Crowe, Teri McCambridge, M.C. McFadden, Bryan Miller, Arianne Missimer, and Matt Nein were all outstanding!
I would not be able to pull this event off without the assistance of my awesome Board members. I inherited a talented Maryland State Advisory Board with Keith McKelphin, Larry Harris, John Philbin, and Andrea Eisgruber. My first two actions as Maryland State Director were to appoint Kelley Crowe and M.C. McFadden to create the All-Star Team. Credit goes to the team!
Special thanks go to Kelley Crowe, Teri McCambridge, M.C. McFadden, and Arianne Missimer who all helped me shoot videos that all went viral on the internet to promote our event!
Thank you to our sponsors. Here are messages from our loyal and generous sponsors of the Maryland chapter of the NSCA.

Legislative Alerts
HB 1106
The Maryland House of Delegates will hear HB 1106 in the House Ways and Means Committee on Thursday, March 7th at 1:00pm. After a failed attempt by Delegate Terri Hill (D – Howard County) to ban youth tackle football last year, she has returned with a bill to heavily restrict youth tackle football. Among other provisions that will affect other sports, the bill will limit football to August to December and prohibits “a youth sports program from offering, approving, or sponsoring football or certain physical activities related to football during the months of January through July.” Such broad language will put 7-on-7 football and offseason strength training and personal training activities related to football in the public and private sectors at risk of being banned.
The official position of the Maryland Football Coaches Association and the Baltimore Touchdown Club is AGAINST HB 1106. The MFCA and BTC will gather outside the hearing room starting at noon on March 7th and will present testimonies against HB 1106. Anyone is welcome to present testimonies against this bill. To present, you must register on site at the House Ways and Means Committee on the same day before the hearing. You can also join the MFCA and BTC to show your support for youth football in front of the media without testifying. Contact Phil Tran to join the resistance.
MATA Lobby Day
The Maryland Athletic Trainers Association will hold their annual lobby day in Annapolis to promote legislation advancing the athletic training profession on Tuesday, March 19th. Meet in the Miller Senate Office Building at 8:00am. Please contact NSCA Maryland State Advisory Board Member Kelley Crowe to participate in the MATA lobby day.

If you are ever in the Baltimore area, I invite you to come watch football practice at Calvert Hall College High School. We begin summer workouts on June 17th. We practice, lift, and run from 7:00am to 10:30am on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We open training camp on Tuesday, August 6th. Send me an email in advance of when you would like to visit.
It is a great learning opportunity for you, but it is also a great learning opportunity for me as well. It is always helpful for me to get an outside evaluation and perspective of our football program by ladies and gentlemen in the sports and fitness industry so we can continue to grow and improve. We need all the help we can get to defend the state championship!
I will see you all at the NSCA National Conference right here at home at the historic Marriott Wardman Park in DC this July if not sooner. Thank you!
