I am here with Maryland’s 2nd all-time winningest high school head football coach Chuck Markiewicz. Coach Markiewicz, an Anne Arundel County legend and Salisbury University football letterwinner, compiled a record of 243-99 as the Head Football Coach at Chesapeake HS, Meade HS, North County HS, and at his alma mater Arundel HS. He won a State Championship as the Head Football Coach at North County HS in 1994 and his teams are perennial championship contenders. In 2014, Coach Markiewicz was inducted into the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of the positive influence he had on the boys and girls he mentored throughout his illustrious coaching career.
Coach Markiewicz is currently the Offensive Line Coach at Calvert Hall’s rival, the national powerhouse Archbishop Spalding High School. He jokes that he was smart enough to step down from being a Head Football Coach before he registered his 100th loss!
I always enjoy catching up with Coach Markiewicz at AFCA Conventions, at Baltimore Touchdown Club events, and as we encounter each other scouting each other’s nonconflicting games (Nothing personal, just business!). It is a pleasure to share the same field with a coaching legend and compete against the best.
Calvert Hall earned a victory against a high quality and high class opponent last Friday night.
Fun Fact: You could say that Coach Markiewicz and I come from the same coaching tree because we both had the honor and privilege of working with the best Athletic Trainer ever, Kelley Crowe!
